How to Set the Password to Expire on Windows 7

One would think this is trivial. Yes, it is, once you know how. So here is how it is done.

1. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
2. Then go to Local Users and Groups
3. Select the Users folder, choose your user and look at it’s properties
4.  There is check box called “Password never expires“
5. Uncheck that.

It is not sufficient to set the maximum password age. That only forces you to change the password when it is that old.
